چکیده
Abstract Over the past three decades, cereal subsector in Ghana has contributed immensely to food security country. However, limited evidence exists on production performance of this subsector, particularly terms heterogeneities across agro-ecological zones. This paper analyzes technology and using a nationally representative data set from 26,449 farms meta-stochastic frontier approach. The empirical results suggest that estimated factor inputs contribute substantially output, with land seed exerting highest impacts all further shows agro-ecology plays crucial role subsector. mean technical efficiency estimates strongly agro-ecologies exhibit some degrees inefficiency. findings reveal total output meta-frontier be much superior those generated by Ghana, indicating existence opportunities for gains agro-ecologies. We find farm management practices various crops zones relevant sources productivity growth Ghana.

This essay assesses the relationship between farm size and productivity. Both parametric and nonparametric methods are used to derive efficiency measures. Smaller farms are found to have higher net farm income per hectare, and to be more technically efficient, than larger farms. JEL Classifications: Q12, O12

متن کاملO-Ring Production on U.S. Hog Farms: Joint Choices of Farm Size, Technology, and Compensation
We hypothesize that hog production can be characterized by complementarities between new technologies, worker skills and farms size. Such production processes are consistent with Kremer’s (1993) O-ring production theory in which a single mistake in any one of several complementary tasks in a firm’s production process can lead to catastrophic failure of the product’s value. In hog production, mi...

Fiji’s agricultural sector, and within it, the sugar industry, has been the driving force behind the country’s development. The sugar industry, however, is facing a number of challenges of which production efficiency is one of them. This paper examines farm productivity, efficiency and profitability in the industry. It suggests that without improving farm level efficiency and productivity the i...
